Active Business Plan
A business plan is an organized view of your mission. It is a tool to be used to build an organization that reflects your evolving vision of the future. It is a guide to keep you from distractions that may cause you to lose sight of the dream.
Tips:
- Simple or complex, utilize a business plan that keeps you moving forward. Regular interaction with the plan breeds instinctual familiarity with your mission, providing better assimilation of new information into the plan.
- Do not make a plan that is too complex. Simple is better. Simple is easy to hold as a tool to measure progress and evaluate risk.
- Once created, the plan should be reviewed and adjusted on a periodic basis. More involvement with the plan will inspire decisions that are more in tune with the plan, and keep the plan reflective of the decisions. As a growing small business, monthly interaction with the plan is advisable to prevent rapid change (often present in small businesses) from rendering the plan outdated and eliminating its value.
A simple business plan would include the following sections:
- Cover Page
- Table of Contents
- Mission Statement
- Business Description
- Market Analysis
- Business Environment
- Competitors
- Marketing Plan
- Operations Plan
- Financial Plan
